What is New in the 2019 Subaru Ascent?

While you might be hearing a lot of anticipation about the newest Subaru model, you might be unsure of what is so new about it. Our team at Subaru Superstore wants to make sure you can see how the 2019 Subaru Ascent is different than other Subaru SUVs, being a unique addition to the lineup that many families will be able to enjoy.

The similarity that it does hold onto – and probably the most defining trait of Subaru models – is the Symmetrical All-Wheel drive that helps you maintain traction and control in every situation, but rest assured, there is a lot to make this model unique.

New on the Inside

The Ascent offers drivers many new features to enjoy inside their model. This is the largest Subaru ever, with more cargo space and passenger volume than any other SUV from Subaru. If you are planning a trip to the Desert Botanical Garden or South Mountain Park in Phoenix, the Ascent will make sure you have the most room for up to eight passengers and whatever they will want to bring along.

Your passengers will be able to stay connected to whatever they need to with an available 120-Volt Outlet, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and several USB ports to use.

Keeping All of the Passengers Safe

If you are concerned about keeping everyone in and around your vehicle safe, then you will appreciate that the Ascent is the only Subaru SUV to come standard with Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The advanced systems EyeSight® includes are:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Pre-collision Braking
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist

These use radars and sensors to ensure you always stay where you are supposed to on the road. Even if there is something to distract you for a fraction of a second, EyeSight® will always be there looking out for you.

More Power and Capability

Just because you are choosing an SUV doesn’t mean you should be compromising for power. The Ascent comes with the most powerful engine for Subaru SUVs: a 2.4-Liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer® engine provides 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The closest comparison is the 3.6-Liter on the 2018 Subaru Outback that makes 256 horsepower.

Where the Outback and other Subaru SUVs don’t come close to competing is the towing capacity of the Ascent. When properly equipped, the Ascent can tow up to 5,000 pounds, putting it close to double the nearest max towing rate of other models in the lineup.
